The Most thrilling and adventurous journey of exploring the world underwater at these snorkeling spots which I have experienced of my own and had a wild experience.
The Nurture beach hub of the country, Hikkaduwa tops the list of best beaches for snorkeling in Sri Lanka. Located just 60.89 miles south of the Colombo city, this beach is a paradise to impressive coral reefs (ridge of rock) and bountiful tropical fishes. You don’t have to be a professional swimmer or a diver to snorkel inside where the exciting view starts from the shore. Just pick your goggles and get into the sea to admire something you’ve never seen before.
Another blissful snorkeling spot in Sri Lanka, from Colombo just in 2hrs 40mins by public transport, located 30 km east of Galle. Called as the ‘Mini Goa’, Unawatuna is a town in southern Sri Lanka. It’s known for its coral reef and its palm-lined beaches, like Jungle Beach. While the enthusiastic snorkelers can dive deep and witness varieties of Fishes and Sea Species during the summer season. The Jungle beach located a bit north of kabalana beach where n number of sea species can be viewed.
One of the finest natural deepwater harbors in the world, located in the eastern seaboard of Sri Lanka approximately 245km from Colombo. The Nilaveli beach settled in this area is the most famous Diving place for the divers. Just a few minutes walk lies the Pigeon island which is the closest place and home to the beautiful colorful fish, anemone, nudibranch and many more marine animals and plants. There are professional Sea Divers and Snorkelers with the essential gadgets to take you into for a great experience.
Waving at the district of Batticaloa, this Sandy Site accommodates widely stretched unadulterated waters and deserted beaches. Pasikuda is a perfect paradise for travelers who want to take a walk over the water instead of land and explore the underworld life. And only this beach will let you dive and snorkel straight off a yacht and witness the awe-inspiring coral reefs.
Another diving heaven in Sri Lanka is Mirissa, located at the southeast coast of the island. This beach has always been the first place to enjoy the view of whales. Whale Watching is a famous adventure here compared to other places. However now this place has turned out to be a great diving spot. There are around 5 diving sites around Mirissa beach for both the snorkeling masters and amateurs. For the beginners, there are training centers and courses for every level.
