Sri Lanka Karting Circuit

Description

The first ever organized karting races in Sri Lanka were held at the Independence Square and helped create tremendous interest in the sport while attracting many new enthusiasts. Soon after this success, 100cc karts started coming into the country and at one point there were nearly 50 karts in operation, however, kart racing was confined to private car parks that had enough space and tarmac surfaces. Kart racing was not able to sustain its popularity and glory due to lack of tracks and proper guidance to youngsters who were interested in taking up the sport which resulted in the sport becoming out-of-bounds for beginners and gradually, kart racing fizzled out.
