Sri Lanka Institute of Textile & Apparel (SLITA) was established on July 01, 2009 by merging Sri Lanka Institute of Textile & Apparel and Clothing Industry Training Institute which had joined with to serve the Apparel Industry for among 25 years.
SLITA delivers study programmes that are being complied with the need of students in the Sri Lankan context at the same time keeping the Industry relevance. Sri Lanka Institute of Textile & Apparel comes under the purview of Ministry of Industry & Commerce under the new Act is empowered to award degrees, diploma at the postgraduate and graduate level. They will provide cutting-edge and fast-track education to professionals for managing the Apparel Industry in a competitive era.
The institute has entered into Memorandum of Understanding leading Industries (MOU) such as North Carolina State University, Bunka Fashion College, Japan. Sri Lanka Institute of Textile & Apparel is committed to prepare its students for managerial positions in Textile and Apparel Industry and technical and strive to deliver quality education through a system of effective pedagogy and continuous industry interaction with students. Using the synergy of the knowledge from the industry and new technology, Institute mandate is to create of technical and management professional who can understand the dynamics of global business environment for Textile & Apparel Industry.
Apparel Production and Management program is a four year degree program and is designed to provide a wider theoretical and practical knowledge in the field.
This Program is for current and aspiring foremen, supervisors or managers; it provides a thorough, practical introduction to the techniques and skills needed to effectively manage subordinates.
This course imparts the required knowledge to the participants to learn techniques and methods to develop a variety of garment styles from basic block patterns.
The course is design to People who attend in testing, quality assurance, merchandizing and anyone wishing to acquire knowledge and skills that can be readily applied in the workplace.
SLITA's library is well equipped with and 4000 volume in Textile, Clothing and allied Subjects, together with International Journal/Magazines covering all aspects of Textile & Clothing Industry. In addition to Textiles and Clothing Journals/magazines the library also contain other International Magazines related to Business and Commerce, Economics, Accounting ,Management , Marketing etc. Reference facilities are available for those interested with prior approval.
SLITA's Testing and QA diploma of textiles & garment are conducting for the time period of 58 Sundays and this course available in only one medium. This Diploma is offering in English Medium.
