Oro 1889 is Sri-Lanka’s first and fastest growing Neapolitan pizzeria. Aiming to provide authentic Neapolitan cuisine primarily ‘Vera Pizza Napoletana’, we pay tribute to the year ‘Pizza Margherita’ was invented, 1889.

Chef Raffaele Esposito in Naples, Italy wanted to make a lasting impression on Queen Margherita during her visit to Naples in 1889, so created a pizza using basil, tomatoes and mozzarella to represent the Italian flag. He then named it ‘Regina Margherita’ (Queen Margherita).

Oro 1889 adopts the same preparation method of authentic Neapolitan pizza and uses STG (Specialità Tradizionale Garantita) approved Caputo flour, combined with both local and imported ingredients to create the same pizza served on the streets of  Naples.
