Chamila Wickramasinghe started her journey by taking the first step in learning Kulasiri Budawatta during her childhood. Therefore, she had came more than 25 years in dancing journey till today day. Chamila Wickramasinghe finished her school reading on the subject of art at Kottawa Dharmapala. In the year of 1999, they dancing queen has begun Uma dance academy & she succeeded from her own dance academy. Today as a teacher, she has enlightened the dancing life of a large number of students & troupe with professionalism in dance in her own.
The troupe of Uma Dancing Academy performed theatre, TV shows, dealer conversations, and music videos. Chila Wickramasinghe & the Uma dance troupe will dive in to entertain you with some traditional, creative & modern dancing skills which are based on kandiyan, indian dance & freestyle. She has begun her job as a dancing teacher at St, Thomas college, mount lavinia in 1997.
Ms.Chamila having dancing experience for over 25 years of which can touch the heart of the audience by performing creative innovations. She almost had already done 4 shows in her dancing life & they have successfully completed. Chamila Wickramasinghe gives fabulous co-operation to make Srilankan dance to reach a higher position. She has her own identity of her. Through her modernization, it passes that she has a culture in her own right. Her lifelong passion for dance has made her compatible with the art.
Sri Lankan classical dance having various styles of dances including,
1.The Kandyan Dance of the Hill Country, known as Uda Rata Natum.
2.The low country dances of the southern plains, known as Pahatha Rata Natum.
3.Sabaragamuwa dances, or Sabaragamuwa Natum.
Some of the similarities, between Kandyan Dance and Bharatha Natyam are the half sitting position, separation of feet, (the gap between the two legs are wider in Kandyan dance than in Bharatha Natyam) and Knee facing two directions (right and left), stretching the arms at the shoulder level, neck movements following the hand movements are some of the similarities between the two classical dance forms.

Chandana completed his secondary education in the science medium at Mahanama College Colombo, Sri Lanka. At the end of his school career, he chased his passion and joined the Sama Ballet Troupe as a dancer. In 1993, was awarded a Diploma in Kathakali and Dance from the prestigious University of Visva Bharathi Santiniketan, India. Today, Chandana is the President of Santiniketan Friends’ affiliated office in Sri Lanka.
Chandana Wickrarnasinghe and the Dancers’ Guild of Sri Lanka, A Dance troupe will entertain you with some traditional, folk, creative and modern dancing based on Kandyan, Low country(Sri Lankan Style) Indian dance and freestyle dance.
Since our inception we have built up an enviable reputation for innovation and creative work, our unrivalled reputation for the distinctive style of performance and committed ensemble playing was praised the world over.
Chandana has performed at the world famous Saddlers’ Wales Theatre, London in 1990 and at several dance festivals amidst distinguished guests. In 2013 the group performed in Kazakhastan and Belarus Bolshoi Theatre to commemorate the visit of the President of Sri Lanka His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksha. The troupe is also called to represent Sri Lanka at Overseas Promotion Campaigns coordinated by the Sri Lankan Embassies.
At the heart of our works are the utmost sincerity and excitement of the performer’s physical presence and unison between dancer and the audience. Our humble attempt is to touch that hidden world of emotion and imagination.
Chandana an acclaimed dancer and founder of the Dancers’ Guild, has bagged many local and international awards for outstanding choreography, rhythm, style and character. Though a traditionally trained Kandyan dancer, Chandana has brought in innovations to the dance form, integrating it with modern beats, a bit of folk and a combination of classical and traditional interventions.
Our Class year runs from September to early June, culminating with our annual recital. Our nine-month schedule gives our instructors the opportunity to know their students well.

Cool Steps Dance Studio has been in existence for the past 5 years, during this time it has helped the youth both boys and girls to learn the various forms of modern dance styles. At present the Cool Steps has over 120 students at three branches at Colombo, Negombo and Wennappuwa, This is the Biggest western dance school in Sri Lanka.
Also, Cool Steps crew has performed more than 500 events so far. The vision of this organization is to popularize the dance forms and to enable the students to obtain a comprehensive molding in the Dance Styles. Started dancing in 2006 under Ruwan Fernando –
So far Ruwan Fernando has won 5 international awards & 12 local awards in the dance sphere. Also, has performed more than 900 events in Sri Lanka & has to his credits 40 Music Videos. Ramod a Young Dance Star who takes his chosen trade seriously & went on to the international platform. Ramod’s crazy Solos are his unique mark. RaMoD has Won 12 different Awards (5 International Awards) continuously in Dancing Field.
